Author Topic: Any thoughts on a Thompson Center Icon in .30-06?

I can get a SMOKIN deal on one tomorrow. It's on reserve for me right now, I can toss a debit card on the counter and take it home. I don't have an accurate rifle, I have battle rifle.

This one has no irons, just a mount for a scope. It's a bolt action, three in the reservoir and one in the pipe.

Looks solid.

It's bedded on aluminum and has a factory guaranteed 1MOA out of the box or I can give it right back and get another.

It's not a huge brand so there's no aftermarket anything for it other than glass.

That's the one article about the rifle I found that has some history in it.

What do you think, jump on it?

Looks like a good solid design, .308 would be a good chamber to consider.

I thought about that, but my only other rifle is a Garand in 30-06. Why not just use the same caliber? Whatever the accuracy you get from the 308 is balanced by the power of the 30-06.

I'm looking at a brand new in the box from the shop rifle for $400, no tax. They have one in .308 too, also for $400.

the 308 and 06 are essentially the same performance wise.

I read the article.

I fail to see how this is better than the '98. I've got a yugo in 8mm 06 improved, I carefully tuned the stock trigger, it will shoot with the gun in the article.
